Nicholas Nicholiavich is of note to Borzoi fanciers because he founded the Perchino Borzoi kennel at Perchino south of St Petersburg. Working with other Borzoi fanciers in the late 1800's and early 1900's he helped to standardize the modern Psovaya Borzaya as we know it.
The Grand Duke survived the Russian Revolution and lived in France until his death in 1926.
